Simon's Town

One of the most unique places in the world - a penguin colony in suburban Cape Town! And the best way to see it is from the water. We meet at the town jetty in Simon's Town for a short introduction to paddling technique and a safety briefing. We then paddle out past the civilian and Naval Harbour where you get a bonus close up view of our biggest naval vessels and out to Boulder's Beach to see the penguins. On the way we will normally encounter a number of Cape Fur seals resting in kelp beds or next to the harbour wall.
If the time and tide is right we may stop on a beach for a swimming break, or else we swim from the kayaks.
Our double kayaks are very stable and perfect for those with no paddling experience and children 10 and up.
This is a trip every able bodied individual can and should do.

The daily scheduled trip leaves at 8.30am summer season (9.00am winter season). High season generally also has an 11am trip and often an afternoon trip as well.

Duration 2 hours.
R300.00 per person

The excursion starts when you get kitted out in your rush vest, booties, wet suit shorts and life jacket (all equipmen1t supplied). Your guide will brief you on what to expect and give you a short safety talk. Dolphins soon join in on your kayak trip, swimming around you and sometimes racing one another or leaping across the surface of the sea. Young seals may frolic beside your boat. Depending on the wind direction, you will either paddle out to see the seal colony at the base of the cliffs on Robberg Peninsula or head east, towards the Keurbooms River and lagoon. Take in amazing views of the town from the sea and at Keurbooms enjoy vistas of rolling green hills inland.
